A further problem with regard to fire safety in recent years is the widespread use of high-energy lithium batteries and fuel cells. The use of these and other high-voltage components leads to a variety of new fire safety challenges.

A whole range of factors – including different battery technologies and capacities, the position of the battery in the aircraft and the fire scenario in the individual case – also play an important role.

Of great importance here is the aspect of insulation from the cabin space. Since the battery modules are partly installed close to the passenger compartment, separating and insulating materials must be used to guarantee the integrity of the passenger.
